Entico Corporation is proud to announce the inaugural Pakistan & Afghanistan Summit (PAS) held on 24th & 25th May 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dubai, UAE. The purpose of the summit is to allow each individual ministry and/or NGO the opportunity to present in detail what their current challenges are, what help and assistance they need, and how the international commercial sector can help them achieve their goals.
During the Summit, investors and businesses wishing to operate in the region will have the opportunity to meet and discuss with senior decision makers from Pakistan and Afghanistan, government officials on a private one-to-one basis, International organisations and other donor agencies will also be outlining their requirements to the audience. The afternoon meetings will be dedicated to finding solutions to those requirements and entering into possible contractual agreements and MOUs.
The background
Both countries are geographically, strategically and economically related. Afghanistan’s security situation is improving, allowing even more businesses to get involved in the massive reconstruction effort and promote investment through security and stability. Both governments are keen on attracting investors through relaxed investment, taxation laws and other financial incentives. Unlike many other countries, Afghanistan has enormous unexplored natural resources such as minerals, precious metals and fertile land for agriculture. Similarly, Pakistan’s infrastructure is in urgent need of modernisation and new projects across different sectors are crucial for economic sustainability. Following the recent natural disasters, the international donor community has promised significant funds for aid and reconstruction projects.
Event format
The summit will be split into two parts, the mornings of the 24th - 25th May being given over to panel sessions on key topics. The afternoons are then dedicated to private pre-scheduled meetings. In excess of 30 private meeting areas will be set aside in the main ballroom.
