The summit

The events division of Entico Corporation are pleased to announce the forthcoming South Sudan Summit (SSS).

In a referendum held in January, some 99% of southern Sudanese voted for independence and South Sudan has been chosen as the name of what will be the 54th nation in Africa when it comes into existence on the 9th of July, 2011.

In line with the other ground breaking events being organised by Entico and with the full knowledge of the Government of Southern Sudan (GoSS) and full support of various GOSS individual ministries, the Southern Sudan Investment Authority (SSIA), the Southern Sudan Business Forum (SSBF) & various international aid & donor agencies such as USAID, UNMIS & UNAMID, SSCRS will bring together forward thinking, international best of breed operators to meet with ministers, their chiefs of staff and the chief procurement officials from their departments and the respective NGO’s.

South Sudan and its capital Juba is one of the booming cities in the region. Given the many years of civil war, South Sudan is literally being built from scratch. The road network, housing, banking sector, civil services, insurance, schools and other amenities in the huge country all need urgent attention and the focus is on the donor community, the government, and above all, commercial investors.

The country has witnessed an influx of potential investors seeking opportunities in all sectors. This has resulted in an unprecedented growth in the hospitality, road and structural construction, housing, telecommunication, water purification, pharmaceutical plants, warehousing, and electric power generation sectors. Other sectors of the economy which may interest investors include:

Livestock husbandry and cattle rearing; Manufacturing; Transport and communication (roads, airports, rail networks, etc); Fisheries; Energy (especially alternative sources of power); Mining (oil, gas, and other minerals); Education; and Tourism.

Other key issues that need to be addressed are: Risk management and mitigation; Border control & critical infrastructure protection; EODT & EOD; Transport & Logistics; Security & Peacekeeping; ICT & Telecommunication; Water & Sanitation and Infrastructural development.

The Government of Southern Sudan (GoSS) is keen to cultivate and nurture a conductive investment environment in the country. GoSS has put in place necessary procedures and systems to facilitate rapid business setup in the country through the respective ministries and commissions.

With this in mind, we are inviting all of the relevant government ministers and their procurement officials to the Safari Park Hotel & Casino in Nairobi on the 6th & 7th of June 2011. They will be speaking during the morning plenary sessions about the particular challenges in their fields, what help and assistance they require and what they are looking to procure in order for them to achieve their goals.

We will also have presenting the international aid community covering their missions within South Sudan.

The format

Following the plenary sessions, the format will change to allow each of the ministries & NGO’s to have their own meeting area to enable them to conduct private meetings with the commercial attendees.

As well as being able to meet these senior decision makers, you will also have an ideal opportunity to network with other executives of the many international and local companies in attendance. In the past, this has proved to be highly beneficial and many joint ventures and production agreements have been arranged from these events.

As an attendee or sponsor of the summit, we will pre-schedule a number of private meetings for you, with the people that you want to meet from the ministries and agencies.

There are a limited number of sponsorship positions available and these will be allocated within the next few weeks.
