Most Swiss citizens ignore that there is a risk of earthquakes in their country and that anti-seismic buildings are the best measure for prevention. In order to raise awareness about earthquakes amongst construction companies, local authorities, students and the public at large, the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment developed a seismic simulator, designed as a 12 m2 classroom, that reproduces an earthquake of magnitude six on the Richter scale.
