Taiwan, Taipei - Rescue workers search for survivors at a collapsed
building in Taipei, 21 September 1999, after earthquake
shook Taiwan early that day. More than 1,100 people
were reported killed as the powerful quake rocked the
island, and officials feared the toll could rise as many
were trapped in collapsed buildings.
